Trades are officially everywhere, and this week felt like a major turning point. Cabinets went in, tile work continued, and suddenly the house looks less like a construction site and more like a home again. Seeing finishes come together is always energizing. It’s where all the planning starts to pay off.
Trim work is ongoing, and with the amount of wood detailing we chose, our in-house carpenter crew has their hands full. It’s meticulous work and will take some time, but it’s exactly the kind of detail that makes the space feel intentional and warm.
On the home-life front, we hit a breaking point with seating. Five people sharing three indoor chairs for meals was simply not sustainable, so we moved a table from another space, and the number of random chairs multiplied overnight. Everyone can sit, and that feels like a win.
We also spent an entire (very cold) day without power while a major electrical panel switch-out took place to support the increased power needs of the new spaces.
The lights are officially on in the new areas, and even without fixtures installed yet, it’s thrilling to see everything illuminated. Light fixtures will be arriving in a few weeks, and we’re already geeking out over the new art lights that sit flush with the drywall.
Even better news: the new HVAC system is up and running. We’re hopeful this marks the official end of freezing indoor temperatures and the beginning of a much more comfortable phase of the build.
