Down came the Very Merry Temp Wall—right on cue for another cold snap. With that barrier gone, the house temperature dropped fast. Out came the space heaters, the dog sweater, and every strategy we could muster to stay warm. It was so cold inside that everyone—humans and dogs alike—was questioning their life choices.
The dogs, surprisingly, are now completely unfazed by construction. Moira Rose has fully claimed our bed as her safe zone and often doesn’t even bother to investigate when the front door opens. Annie, on the other hand, is delighted by the new openness. With temporary openings between the keeping room and dining room, she’s busy exploring spaces that were previously off-limits, still a little confused but very curious.
Figgingsworth continues to adapt and may officially be our Christmas tree this year. He’s been upgraded with lights, and he’s actually pulling it off.
Inside the house, we are deep in the messy middle, with cords everywhere, dust on everything, and supplies stacked in every available corner. Our livable space is very tight, and we’re all sneezing constantly. It’s glamorous.
The good news: insulation and siding were installed this week. The exterior looks amazing, and insulation has already made a noticeable difference with the cold—something we’re deeply grateful for. Once drywall goes up, it should feel even better.
