The hot water is holding strong, which feels like a luxury reserved for royalty.
The slab is poured, and framing is underway, which means we can officially walk the footprint of the new first floor!
This week was all about prep for the house opening up:
- Temp walls went up downstairs to seal off the demo zone from living space
- Floors were protected (as best as one can protect in a construction site)
- Upstairs, we installed a tarp-style zip wall to give the kids a safe walkway
- A zipper door is coming next so trades can get access to the new area
And then… A Very Merry Temp Wall was born
I painted a Christmas mural and created a communal space where anyone visiting can add an ornament or sign the wall. A few early ornaments have already appeared—including a “6-7,” which we have chosen not to question.
The dogs, once again, had opinions.
- Annie: fine.
- Moira Rose: dramatic. She ended up on an emergency field trip to Grandma’s for emotional support and lunch.
